Kuroko no Basket 3rd Season
After Seirin High school defeated their heated rivals, Yosen High, it advances to the semifinals of the Winter Cup. See what it takes for them to get to the next bracket.
If you were a fan of the first two seasons, you can expect much of the same from the third. The teams/rivals are different but the intensity on and off the court is the same. The player’s interrelations and outside life influences become a testament to the reasons why they are winning on the court, as they are hashed out and/or resolved. The struggles are worth the fight and this is not your normal basketball tournament. More like Dragonball Z meets sports with some of those destructively astonishing moves.
With each passing episode, we see dramatic transitions, new alliances and the influence each player’s past and present has, both on and off the court. The rising actions and new, and returning, relationships all add to the gravity of the entire tournament, in fact each game if not each play. Most watchers knew the Seirin High was going to win the cup, or else another team would have been in the spotlight. But it was how and with whom they succeeded that created all the meaning of the show. Even if you are not a sports fan, the interrelationships and personal, as well as team-based trials can translate into any other genre or topic.
The final season has the same intense, inhuman moves, displayed well during gameplay, just as previous seasons. Teams with their own uniforms, to stand out more easily. The use of camera angle changes, outward character personality expressions, pertaining to game progression and mood swings, dictate a certain team’s condition or player’s interaction.
The evolving openers and closers, to signify the team’s progression, are a nice touch. To the same tune, the timed music changes amplify the thrilling spectacles throughout. The voiceover work is good, but nothing to get excited about. The adaptive quality of the overall sound organization rounds out the animation and storyline well.
Rating and Overall Enjoyment: 7/10
